The birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia is revered for its beans. It produces some of the best single-origin coffees in the world. On this 13 Day tour you will dig deeper into this region and find out what makes this coffee-growing country so special. We’ll look at the rich history of coffee as well as the current state of coffee in this East African nation.
Ethiopia produces some of the most unique and fascinating coffees in the world in three main regions where Ethiopia coffee beans originate. These include Harrar, Ghimbi, and Sidamo (Yirgacheffe). Ethiopian Arabica Coffee Beans. Ethiopian Harrar coffee beans are grown on small farms in the eastern part of the country.
On Arrival in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia you will visit the Ethnographic Museum and the Merkato (the largest open air market in Africa) particularly its coffee quarter. You will also stop at Tomoca, the oldest coffee outlet in Addis Ababa.
Dinner will be at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant.

Continue to Arba Minch across the land of the Welayta people who grow coffee in family owned small farms.

Visit the Dorze Mountains and the people who live in the mountains northwest of Arba Minch. You will have coffee in a traditional Dorze huts made of bamboo. In the afternoon you will have boat excursion on Lake Chamo. Overnight hotel.
Drive to Hawassa in the land of the Sidama people, known for growing coffee.

In the morning we stop at the fish market at Lake Hawassa, which is also one of the best birding sites in Ethiopia.
Continue to Yirgalem to walk in coffee plantations of the Sidama people and have coffee with them.

Drive to Yirgachefe to visit Gedio coffee farmers. Yirgachefe coffee is regarded one of the best coffee from Ethiopia.

Drive to Aleta Wondo to visit coffee plantations and processing centers of the Sidama people. Overnight hotel.
Drive to Adama with stops at Shashemne to visit a Rastafarian family and to have Ethiopian coffee with them.

Drive to the Harar Mountains, which is the center of the highly praised Harar coffee. Overnight hotel.
Spend the day exploring in the old walled city of Harar.
You will have coffee ceremony in a traditional Harar home.

Excrusion to Dire Dawa, considered to be the second largest city in Ethiopia. Visit its market including the coffee quarter.
